As speculated, John Tiffany’s acclaimed revival of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie will transfer to Broadway this September for a 17-week run, according to The New York Times.
The revival stars Tony winner Cherry Jones, Tony nominee Celia Keenan-Bolger, Zachary Quinto and Brian J. Smith. Produced by Jeffrey Richards and John N. Hart, The Glass Menagerie will begin performances on September 5 at an unnamed Shubert theater and run through January 2014, with an opening night set for September 26.
Directed by Once Tony winner Tiffany, the classic drama stars Jones as faded doyenne Amanda Wingfield, Keenan-Bolger as her timid daughter Laura, Quinto as her son (and the play's narrator Tom) and Smith as Jim, better known as the Gentleman Caller. The play opened to rave reviews at the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts on February 2.
The Glass Menagerie reunites Tiffany’s Once creative team and features sets by Bob Crowley, lighting design by Natasha Katz, sound by Clive Goodwin and movement by Steven Hoggett.
